Little Lore - Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 10/14/2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Little Lore ("the app", "we", "us"), published by CognitoWare, handles your information. Little Lore turns the photos already on your phone into your child's life story. It is private by design: you do not create an account, and your photos are understood on your device. A few optional features send limited data to our services, as described below.

No Account, No Personal Profile

Little Lore does not ask you to sign up, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts. To manage subscriptions, the app generates a random, anonymous identifier on your device that is not linked to your real-world identity.

Your Photos, Videos and Voice Notes Stay on Your Device

With your permission, Little Lore reads your photo library to build your child's timeline. This analysis happens entirely on your device, including:

Optional Cloud Storytelling

If you choose to turn on cloud storytelling (you will see a consent screen first), the app sends, for each moment it writes about, the moment's title, date, and a small copy of its cover photo to our secure backend, which relays it to a third-party AI provider (Google's Gemini API) to write the story. This data is used only to return the story; we do not keep it or use it for anything else. Your full-size photos, videos, and voice recordings are never sent. You can turn this off anytime under Family.

Optional Encrypted Backup

If you turn on backup, your timeline, stories, and small cover images are sealed on your device with AES-256-GCM encryption before upload. Only your recovery key can open them; we cannot read your backup. You can also export the encrypted backup file yourself instead of using our storage.

Optional Family Sharing

If you share your child's story with family, the shared timeline and small cover images are encrypted on your device with a family share key. Our relay stores only encrypted data it cannot read, and only people you give the key to can open it. Comments from family members are encrypted the same way. Turning on Pause sharing deletes the shared copy and any unread comments from our servers.

Subscriptions & Payments

Optional subscriptions are sold and billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your payment-card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat processes purchase and receipt information along with the anonymous identifier described above. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Support Requests

If you contact support from the app, it opens your email app with a pre-filled message that includes the app version, your device platform, and your plan, so we can help faster. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or remove anything in the message first.

Information Stored on Your Device

Your timeline, stories, future messages, face data, search index, and settings are stored locally on your device. This data stays on your device unless you use the optional backup or sharing features above, or your operating system's own backup service (e.g., iCloud or Google backup), which is governed by Apple's or Google's policies.

No Advertising or Tracking

Little Lore does not display advertisements, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not share or sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

Third-Party Services

The features above rely on these providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Children's Privacy

Little Lore is used by parents and guardians to keep their own family's memories. It is not directed to children, and children are not meant to use it. Photos of children are processed on the parent's device as described above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Security & Retention

All requests to our backend use encrypted connections. Backups and shared timelines are end-to-end encrypted. Because there are no user accounts, we do not keep a personal history of your activity on our servers.

Your Choices & Deleting Your Data
