Your privacy is our top priority at Storybook Magic. We are committed to protecting your data and ensuring a magical experience. Our app collects minimal personal information, storing most data locally on your device to keep your stories and preferences private.

Information We Collect

Storybook Magic collects only the following data, which is necessary for the app’s functionality:

• User Name: An optional name you provide during onboarding to personalize your stories (e.g., “Adventurer”). This is stored locally in the app’s preferences.
• Stories and Preferences: Your created stories, favorite stories, reading progress, and settings (e.g., text size, sound preferences) are stored locally on your device.
• Usage Data: No usage data or analytics are collected unless you use the “MagicalStories” feature, where anonymized story metadata may be stored on Supabase servers.

Local Storage

All user-generated stories, images, and preferences are stored securely on your device using local storage. This includes story texts, illustrations, and settings like sound or interactive text preferences. For “MagicalStories” sourced stories, some data (e.g., story ID, last page read) may be stored on Supabase servers, but no personally identifiable information is included.

Subscriptions

Storybook Magic offers an optional subscription to unlock an ad-free experience and premium features, such as exclusive story categories. Subscriptions are processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. Please review the privacy policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for details on their data handling practices.

Advertisements

The free version of Storybook Magic displays banner and interstitial ads via third-party ad networks (e.g., Google Mobile Ads). These ads do not use personal data for targeting, but the ad networks may collect anonymized data as per their policies. Subscribing to the premium version removes all ads.

Permissions

Storybook Magic may request the following permissions:

• Storage: To save stories and images locally on your device.
• Notifications: Optional permission to send reminders for new story features (on Android, this may include SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM).
• Internet: For accessing “MagicalStories” from Supabase and loading ads in the free version.

All permissions are optional, and no personal data is shared as part of these processes.

Third-Party Services

Storybook Magic uses the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store and Google Play Store: For subscription processing.
• Google Mobile Ads: For displaying ads in the free version.
• Supabase: For storing anonymized story metadata for “MagicalStories” (no personal data).
• Gemini API: For generating story text and images, which are stored locally and not shared externally.

No personal data is shared with these services, and their data handling is governed by their respective privacy policies.

Security

We prioritize the security of your data. All locally stored data (stories, images, preferences) is protected by your device’s security features. For “MagicalStories,” minimal metadata stored on Supabase is anonymized and encrypted. We do not use cloud storage for personal data or allow remote access to your content.

Children’s Privacy

Storybook Magic is designed to be safe for children. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately to have it removed.
